Action Family Counseling/Zone is starting to establish a foundation to help with sponsoring teens that may have been affected by drug and alcohol abuse. The founder, Cary Quashen, has dedicated his life to reaching troubled teens and dysfunctional families. His objective is to pass his personal recovery experiences with drugs and alcohol onto the youth of today.
Cary is a Certified Addiction Specialist, interventionist, and a high risk teen counselor which has resulted in him being a nationally known expert with appearances on shows such as Good Morning America and Judge Judy. Cary also provides evaluation, assessments and interventions to parents, school districts and the juvenile justice system. He is even the Executive Director of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Behavioral Health Unit.
The Action Family Foundation is an organization that is centered on helping those teens and families that may have had an experience with drug and alcohol abuse. One of the projects that they are working on is the “Experience” which is a mobile memorial/ tribute to all the teens that have passed away due to drug overdose. This can be a learning tool to create awareness to prevent future drug abuse. The Youth Grove located in Central Park in Saugus, will be the model that is used to influence the Experience.
One of the other activities to create awareness is the Candlelight Vigil that will be put on every August, the Overdose Awareness Month. At the vigil, families that have lost a loved one to drug abuse share their experience to the audience which include people that are recovering from drug abuse or people that want to show support for others.
The Action Family Counseling Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers has 12 locations with 16 programs in the Southern California area that are based on intensive outpatient, residential treatment programs for both teens and adults, and sober living facilities in Bakersfield and Santa Clarita Valley.
