Bob Kellar joined the City of Santa Clarita as a first term Council Member in April 2000. He began his life of public service with the United States Army from 1965 until 1967 and followed this experience with 25 years of law enforcement as a Sergeant in the Los Angeles Police Department from 1968 until 1993. Throughout his 21 years as a Santa Clarita resident, he has played an active role on several local non-profit boards and committees.

Kellar served as President and Member of the Board of Directors for the Canyon Country Chamber of Commerce from 1993 through its incorporation with the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber in 1995. His support in re-shaping the SCV Chamber to include Canyon Country was instrumental during this time. He has held presidential positions for the Santa Clarita Division of the Southland Regional Association of Realtors and the Santa Clarita Valley Veteran's Memorial Committee. Kellar was also active on the Board of Directors for the Santa Clarita American Red Cross and American Cancer Societies.

Kellar is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys nature, which inspires a careful hand in development decisions. As former Chair of the City's Planning Commission, Kellar stood strong on ensuring that new development follows a more sound and responsible approach to growth. For his dedication to the community, he received the award for "Santa Clarita Man of the Year" in 1998. Since moving to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1979, Kellar has developed a true connection with the citizens he serves. His greatest concern is for education and the overall well being of the community.
