Wet Weather Creates Problems

A wet, windy storm swept through the valley Friday, closing Interstate 5 from Castaic through the Grapevine for the second time this week.

Several collisions peppered local freeways, slowing traffic. None was fatal, though one woman was rushed to a local hospital with minor injuries after she lost control of her car, California Highway Patrol officers said. Rainfall totals for January had reached 2.67 inches by Friday in Newhall. Normal rainfall through Jan. 7 is only .67 inches.
