Top Place To Go Fishing in California

From time immemorial, fishing was one of the main ways to ensure food. Fortunately, these times are long past and today fishing is no longer a game of survival, but a passionate hobby of men (and often women) all over the world.

This gave impetus to the development of sport fishing, as this occupation requires certain skills. Choosing the right place for fishing, time, weather, bait, reading a fishfinder is not as easy as may seem.

However, there are places which in the literal sense are teeming with fish, and California is one of them. Let’s find out where to look for the greatest catch if you live in Santa Clarita or near it.

Californian Fishing: It Is Almost All Inclusive

The natural conditions of California are extremely diverse. There are high mountains and vast valleys, dense forests and salt marshes of deserts, stormy rivers and dried up lakes. If you like fishing, then there is everything in California to make it comfortable and catchable. However, there are strict rules. There are two types of American fishing: on freshwater ponds and in the ocean from boats, and in the ocean from piers.

For the first type of fishing, you need a license. You can buy it here. With such a license, you can catch not only fish but also collect shellfish (there are a lot of them!). However, be sure to check the species of those fish that are subjected to catching – for many species of fish you should buy an additional license, and some can not be caught at all.

As for catching from piers, all you need is rigging. No license is needed. Just come to the pier and catch. And most piers here are equipped in the highest class – there are special tables and baths for cleaning and washing fish.

Here is the approximate list of spices you can see and cath here:

  • Yellow-Tailed Tuna
  • Bonefish
  • Gorbyl
  • Permit
  • Dorado
  • Blue Marlin
  • White Marlin
  • Mero
  • Red Snapper
  • Wahu Swordfish
  • Sailing Fish
  • Snook Striped Marlin
  • Tarpon
  • Triggerfish

But the main fishing place in California has always been Lake Tahoe.

Fishing on Lake Tahoe

For a long time, the lake was removed from civilization, and little was known about it. In 1915, an automobile road was built here, and this contributed to the rapid growth of the popularity of Lake Tahoe among the inhabitants of California and Nevada. On its shores, entrepreneurs began to build hotels and open resorts.

Today the lake is a place where people like to spend their weekends and vacations coming from the big cities of the two American states. Fans of leisurely beach rest, fishing, rowing, water skiing and diving come to the picturesque lake.

There is much fish on the Tahoe, and here they keep a whole fishing fleet. Fishermen-lovers prefer to catch from the shore, as well as on the river Traka and the river Jujuba, where trout live. In September, a whole presentation begins on Lake Tahoe. A huge amount of red sockeye salmon comes here to spawn.

What to Take with You If You Are Go Fishing to Lake Tahoe

  • A tent. Experienced fishermen take a tent with them, even if they go for one night. In a tent, you can not only spend the night but also take shelter from the rain.
  • A tourist ax. When choosing an ax, one should pay attention to its practicality. The best choice is a hammerhead.
  • Things for convenience and recreation. Fishing from the beach standing is a tedious business, in which the legs are very tired. It is useful to take a few folding chairs with you – according to the number of persons.
  • Products. For one night, it makes no sense to take a lot of supplies – a few sandwiches will suffice. In case of rest for several days, you need to take a tourist food.
  • Other important things. Experienced fishermen, going on fishing, first of all, take matches or a lighter. It makes sense to take flashlights for each person. You also can not do without a kit of first aid.
