With the immense changes in healthcare, philanthropy is needed more than ever to support our medical centers' life saving work. Last year's proceeds helped our hospitals purchase needed equipment such as cardiac lift chairs for recovering cardiac patients to increase mobility post surgery, resulting in speedier recovery and less strain on the heart and lungs. A portable Electroencephalogram (EEG) machine now allows our patients a comprehensive testing of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system for Intensive Care Unit patients with disease or injury to their nervous system. Our pediatric patients benefited with new bedside Pulse Oximetry Monitors, which centralize heart rate and oxygen saturation levels of twelve children's vitals simultaneously to the care nurse, as well as the nurses' station providing safe and more effective care.
