Canyon Country resident Tony Marincola represents the 17th Airborne Division at the annual SCV Memorial Day observance at Eternal Valley Memorial Park. Marincola, 94, survived the Battle of the Bulge and also served in the 101st and 82nd Airborne Brigades before coming home in 1945.
The annual Memorial Day tribute is a place where veterans, their families and the community gathered to honor those who serve and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Congressman Buck McKeon honored some of Santa Clarita’s Gold Star families (families who have lost a family member in the service), focusing on those lost since 9/11.
After the service families and guests were treated to a free lunch of hot dogs and chips.
Uniforms from all wars and various eras were worn by both those who served and reenactors.
The Vietnam Vets “Lost Patrol” presented the colors
The Little Ladiez sang the National Anthem
Other patriotic selections were performed by the Santa Clarita Master Chorale
