33rd Annual Hart District Honor Band Concert Sounds Off At Hart High School

District High School Honor Band Performs Saturday Night

Attendees and performers both braved the rain slicked roads Saturday night to make the 33rd annual Honor Band Concert at Hart High School a success.

Hart High School’s auditorium was filled with instrumental sound Saturday night during a concert performed by local junior high and high school students.

The Honor Band members are selected to perform each year and are made up of students from local junior highs and high schools. Of the 700 who auditioned for the honor band this year, only 178 were selected, with 86 in the junior high band and 92 in the high school band.

The junior high and high school bands were guest conducted by Angela Woo, and Eric Hammer, respectively. Hammer has served as director of bands and professor of music education at the University of the Pacific in Stockton for more than 20 years and Woo is the director of the Visual and Performing Arts Department and director of instrumental music at John Adams Middle School in Santa Monica.
