Welcome to a new year! Heads Up offers open enrollment. Fund raising efforts are underway for Horses For Heroes, therapeutic riding program for returning veterans. 20th Anniversary Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival are now on sale!
Our first guest of 2013 is singer/songwriter John Bergstrom. We chat about his “theme song” Western State of Mind (one of Nancy’s favorites) and John shares that he uses this song as his alarm clock. According to John “This song works as sort of a “detox’ and reminds us to relax and enjoy our lives, and that “the west” is not a thing of the past.”

We PREMIERE several tracks from his new CD, Butterfield Stage, including an old traditional song,”The Fox,” originally from the British isle about a fox trying to provide for its family. Its historic roots are important for this CD. And, this song has been covered by many people over time. Most of the other tracks are original songs written by John.
John shares stories behind the title song, Butterfield Stage and the theme song for the Heads Up video. Dr. Miller was at the ranch during the video shoot, (if you are unaware, Dr. Miller is well known in the equestrian field.) According to Nancy, “the Doctor asked if we could shoot a video for his lectures and I started thinking ‘I need music’ and then I thought of John. John knew exactly what the feel needed to be and he captured it perfectly.”
