On Sunday, May 5th, the Santa Clarita Valley Latino Chamber of Commerce hosted a Cinco de Mayo celebration. There were performances including dancing and singing. There was also Zumba, face painting, bilingual book reading in the library, and various vendors. Cinco de Mayo is the official date when the Mexican army defeated France in 1862. It has become an American tradition and celebrated all over the country with food, parades, Mexican folk dancing, and mariachis. This event took place on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.
