COC Jazz Bands To Perform Spring Jazz Concert At The PAC

Marking the beginning of their concert season, the College of the Canyons Studio Jazz Ensemble and Lab Bands will perform their spring JAZZ IT! concert on Friday, March 21, 2013 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center (PAC).

The award-winning ensemble will perform music representing various styles of jazz including, swing, shuffle, ballads and jazz rock as well as jazz arrangements by Dirk Fischer.

“This is our last concert before the Studio Big Band attends the Annual Reno Jazz Festival in April,” said KC Manji, the college’s music director. “The band competed at the Reno Jazz Festival in 2007 and we won first place in our division. It was a great experience to hear all of the other bands from middle schools to major four-year colleges. It was an inspiring experience for everyone and we can hardly wait to go again.”

Raffle tickets will also be sold the night of the concert for the grand prize of a two-hour performance by the jazz band at the winner’s special event of his or her choice. The grand prize will be raffled during the concert.

All raffle ticket proceeds will go towards covering transportation costs for the band’s trip to this year’s Annual Reno Jazz Festival.

The JAZZ IT! concert will take place at 7:30 p.m.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for COC students and senior citizens.
