The City of Santa Clarita
is presenting the final live performance for A Season of Diversity, bringing
the 2008-2009 program near to its close.

"Horizon Line," which will be performed
Tuesday, January 27 at 6:30 p.m. at
the Valencia High School auditorium, is a play that explores the seeds of
prejudice and teaches young people and adults alike the importance of
compassion and understanding.

"Horizon Line" is one of three Compassion Plays designed by
the ENCOMPASS theater program to help students talk about diversity topics in a
safe and supportive way. The Compassion Plays are meant to inspire compassion
and personal responsibility, as well as an appreciation of differences among California
teenagers.

“The 'Horizon Line' Compassion Play is a great way to communicate
the importance of understanding to young people,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “It
really encompasses what Santa Clarita’s A Season of Diversity is all about.”

Santa Clarita’s A Season of Diversity is a series of events
and program designed to promote cultural understanding in our community. Its
mission is to encourage, assist, and empower adolescents to eliminate all forms
of discrimination and to promote understanding and appreciation of human
differences. The program will culminate with the Essay and Poster Content
Awards Ceremony in February.

Valencia High School is located at 27801
