Cary and Bob cracked open their latest show describing their weekends. Calls at 3am, addicts begging and demanding anything and everything, and also – tackling the pharmaceutical drug addiction which has hit the Santa Clarita Valley harder than many residents would like to believe. In fact, Cary and Bob had brought some statistics with them, and recent data is something that men are more likely to die as a result if pain killer and pharmaceuticals, more women are experimenting with pills than ever before in human history. And for every fatal overdose, there are thirty non lethal, overdoses which still require ER visits. For example, Bob spoke on something every family member should know. The combination of Xanax (a brand name drug of the Benzo family) and alcohol can be fatal. Unfortunately, Benzos are the most popularly prescribed drug in America. It is often talked about extremely nonchalantly between older men and women, just justly are prescribed by their doctors – however, what many fail to grasp, is that over acceptance of prescription drug culture breeds fresh addicts. Unintentional, or accident addicts, and it fuels money in to the pharmaceutical industry and it is an extremely easy habit to form, out of innocent people seeking help. Cary always says “drugs kill” no matter the reasons why, extreme caution must be exerted every step of the way. Families in Action’s guest today, Mindy, next shared her tumultuous history with pills and how she was able to overcome her addiction to pharmaceuticals. In fact, she too never intentionally decided to dive into drug culture, it was after her appendix ruptured, was when she was introduced to pills by her doctor. After falling in love with the drugs immediately, it took huge effort to slay the dark tendrils of addiction.
