Families in Action: April 14, 2014
Welcome to Families in Action on Santa Clarita’s Hometown Station AM 1220 KHTS.
April is Alcohol awareness month. April gives us a great opportunity to discuss the devastating effects of alcohol. Alcohol is one of the most devastating drugs, and yes, alcohol is a drug. Many people think that they need 3 or 6 or 10 beers to lose judgment, but as soon as you start drinking, it takes effect.
It is important to know, that any drug is a danger to addicts. Even if someone was addicted to a different drug and never had a problem with alcohol and drinks after recovery, they will still end up in trouble.
On April 26 from 10 am to 2 pm, the DEA, KHTS, Action family foundation, and the local police department are holding a drug takeback day at the Henry mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. This is an opportunity to take all the drugs and prescriptions in your house and dispose of them properly. Many people will drop their prescriptions in the toilet and that hurts the water supply. Even throwing prescriptions away is dangerous because others can grab the empty bottle and refill the bottle.
in 1954, alcohol was declared a chronic disease, and once the problem reach a medical point, it doesn’t get better.
When someone suffers from the disease of addiction, it is not only the addict who suffers, many times the family is suffering even more.
