Hosts Cary Quashen and Bob Sharits open the show with talk of their hectic weekends, and their notice of a recent resurgence of methamphetamine addiction amongst teenagers.

Held at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 19th, the SCV Educational Foundation will honor teachers around the Santa Clarita Valley at the 29th Annual Teachers Tribute.

Joining Cary and Bob in the studio is Janene Maxon, Assistant Superintendent of Education Services at Castaic Union School District, who talks about the importance of the event for acknowledging fifty-five public school teachers, each representing one of the schools throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

Guest Rosemarie Rafter, 3rd grade teacher at Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary School, discusses her passions for her job as an educator and the ongoing goal of changing lives and helping children grow.

Bob reflects on the importance of teachers as role models in the life and development of young children today, saying, “parents spend two to ten minutes of time with their children today…the other eight hours a day, five days a week, for eighteen years, is spent with their teachers.”

Casey Manalastas, 6th grade teacher at Cedar Creek Elementary School talks about her inspirations and what led her to her rewarding job as an elementary school teacher.
