Families in Action – Monday, July 22, 2013
Cary and Bob brought a good family and friend of the Action Family on for today’s show: Alex Urbina. Alex is a life coach who has been helping kids and adults alike transform themselves into the leaders and champions they need to be. In addition to his passion of life leadership, he is also director of trainings for Action Family Counseling. Bob gave Alex the opportunity to break down and illustrate exactly what he does for the community. That conversation lead to some new and impactful updates. For example, The Action Family Zone was planning an amazing event for tomorrow night, however due to some recent changes – some speakers are not able to attend, so the event will be cancelled and rescheduled later on. But instead of just giving up, they will meet at the Action Family Zone anyway, and have a circle with guests, walk-ins, and several Action employees just to find out what is on community members’ minds. They welcome all listeners to come as planned, but note that the experience will be different – yet remain just as powerful. The Action gang next spoke on realizing how effective someone can be in their community. Bob had an interesting experience with a random passerby who knew of his work at Action. This person told Bob, “I should help kids know about the dangers of these new drugs. I am an ex addict, and have been fortunate to live through that dark time in my life”. Bob Sharits immediately replied with, “Yes! Yes you should now.”
