Summer Is A Dangerous Time When Kids Experiment With Drugs And Alcohol…
Cary and Bob began their show this Monday discussing the consequences and liabilities one faces, when throwing a party with drugs and alcohol. Kids will find their way into all kinds of situations, and over the summer, they will have much more time to explore and experiment with their friends. The gang stresses heavily the importance of keeping a level of trust and communication between parents and their children, to prevent any disastrous situation. Cary notes that it is almost 40% of teens who try marijuana/alcohol/cigarettes for the first time, during the summer breaks. A lot of these first timers break their contracts (things like, ‘I will never smoke, drink etc etc’) due to a toxic mixture of boredom, curiosity, and peer pressure. For example, Cary and Bob mention that that one of the first contracts youngsters break, is smoking cigarettes. When Action Family Counseling go to elementary schools to give lectures and speak to kids one on one, they find many of their listeners genuinely believe they will never smoke cigarettes, and fear for their loved ones that do.
Next segment, Bob speaks on the dangerous advancements in marijuana technology. The cannabis of the 21st Century is far different than the cannabis of the 1960’s. For example, besides the intensely higher THC levels in the plant, there are newer and stealthier ways to smoke it. Like, G-Pens – concentrated marijuana vaporizers that enable the user to ingest THC without literally burning the plant.
