Hosts Cary Quashen and Bob Sharits of Action Family Counseling come on the air this week to discuss what parents and teens can look out for during the month of May, the month that marks the national Mental Health Awareness Month.
One Third of Teen Alcohol Deaths Occur durring April, May and June…
The end of May also marks the time for high school and college graduations.
“During the months of April, May, and June, one third of teen alcohol related deaths occur in these three months.”
“The highest rate of auto related deaths occur with individuals 15 to 20 years old,” explains officer John Lutz of the California Highway Patrol, “half of these deaths occur without the individual wearing a seatbelt.”
10,000 citations in Southern California are issued for using a cell phone while driving a motor vehicle, with 7,600 hundred of the citations being issued to adults.
The hour wraps up with some options out there to be safe when you decide to drink or be with individuals who are intoxicated.

Every few years Every 15 Minutes comes to high schools around the Santa Clarita Valley to educate high school children in the dangers of drinking and driving.
