Cary Quashen and Bob Sharits are a radio duo known throughout the planet for their exemplary history. Their real job duties really never end, because they are pillars of their communities – not surprising, considering their decades of work with ACTION Family Counseling. For their latest on air endeavor, Cary Quashen wanted to focus on children. More so than drug use or family problems, he wanted to shed light on how a struggling individual will be affected in the learning environment. School is a mandatory aspect of life, and Bob notes that steady absences and flat out truancy is a red flag of a serious underlying problem. So the counselors decided to bring in Mary Chester, the Child Welfare and Attendance Specialist at William S. Hart Union High School District. She plays a huge role in the disciplinary decisions implemented on Santa Clarita youth. She shared the many uncommon results of kids who fail to complete school, and stories of kids who changed their destructive ways – finding positive and productive involvement in their schools.
