Drug use and alcoholism starts innocently. Fortunately, in the last few years more addicts have been treated. Often they were people addicted to prescription drugs. Starting at age 12 addicts can receive treatment.

One never forgets the pain of an addiction but over time you learn to think less of the pain addictions. Guest Cole Peddie was able to travel with his friend Nigel learning how important his choices really are after losing his friend. He realized that our choices have real life consequences. You have the power to save lives by making a difference for someone else. Nigel started smoking weed in the seventh grade. Addictions often start when we make excuses with ourselves by not being honest by saying that we will never do something.

In Nigel’s case he started drinking and was offered prescription pills and started to use them because he was bored. His health seemed like it was in good shape but drugs have the effect of making you feel as if you are invincible. Kids do not realize what they are putting in their bodies could lead to accidental overdoses which can lead to dependency or death. However, often the addicts have no intention of losing their lives.

Nigel lost his life when he and Cole went on a snowboarding trip creating a close bond between the two of them. After going into a restroom to use drugs Cole did not think much of it, but Nigel started becoming unusually sleepy after using a drug leading to his death.

Cole has always wanted to make a difference in someone’s life. After Nigel’s death, Cole desires to travel the world reaching out specifically to hospitals and schools about drug prevention. Cole takes along with him Nigel’s ashes in order speak with others about drug addiction
