Welcome to Friday Matinee with your host Paul Strickland, where we show you everything that is happening in the local Santa Clarita arts and entertainment scene.

On today’s episode our first guest is John Bergstrom.  John is a western singer song writer who has released a CD.  He has songs such as “Ghost & Legends” and “Butterfield Stage”.  The CD is called Butterfield stage.  All of Johns Music is available at Out West. It is also on most online venues such as amazon, cd baby, itunes. Also if you go to any performance of John Bergstrom he will have cd’s there too.

Paul ends the first segment with John’s song “Snowshoe Johnson”.  John Bergstrom first got his inspiration for the song driving on the highway in what used to be western Utah.  In that area, there is a statue of snowshoe Johnson.  After seeing that statue, he remembered an old tv episode that featured Snowshoe Johnson and then decided to write the song.

The album is called Butterfield Stage, and of course the title track is about the story of butterfield stage, and you will have to buy the album to learn about it.  This is his fourth album, all of which can be found online at amazon, cd baby, itunes and other sites like that.  John ends the segment by singing his song cold “Tombstone”.

Paul’s next guest is Jeff Barber from the City of Santa Clarita.  Jeff comes to talk about all the events for you to see in Santa Clarita.  At the moment there are 7 Venues in Santa Clarita and there are 3 galleries in the city.  One of them is in the Canyon Country Library.  Each of them carries their own theme for each show.  At the moment, the Newhall gallery has a native American and historical theme.  We also have a gallery set up for movie. Out city has a long history with movies both new and old.  After we have some of the more historical exhibits, we will start to show exhibits by local artists.  One of which we are planning is a local water color artist who is amazing.
