Friday Matinee – May 31, 2013

Welcome to Friday Matinee right here on Santa Clarita’s Hometown Station, AM 1220 KHTS.  I am your host George Cummings along with T Katz.  Today we are having some musical guests today, a lot of acoustic folk music.  I always say that people need to expand their horizons and listen to new music.  Our first guest is Nathaniel Dobies.  Nathaniel has been here before back when it was thursday Matinee with Paul.  So what is it that you do Nathanial?  I sing play guitar and I just recently got into banjo and harmonica.  I used to play the bass with my friend and would cover Blink 182 songs.  I am self taught, some times it is apparent, sometimes it is not, and I also write my own songs.

I have heard some of your songs and I have to say your music is very personal.  Do you find that there is a difference in expression when speaking to someone as opposed to singing to someone?  It sounds weird, but it feels like I am talking to myself about what happened, so when the music comes out, it feels like a conversation.  Do you find that this talent is a relationship magnet or repellent?  It is starting to become a repellent.  I am starting to become the Taylor Swift of Santa Clarita,  don’t date me or I will write a song about you.

we will be back with some more of Nathaniel Dobies and we will get to hear some of his music, right there on your Hometown Station, AM 1220 KHTS.
