Jenny Sehenuk’s life ended tragically Friday night after a motorcycle accident and as word got out about her death, it seemed that there were few people in the Santa Clarita community who didn’t know her or about her. She will be memorialized at services scheduled for noon Friday, Oct. 8, at Blessed Kateri Church on Copper Hill Drive in Saugus.

The 29-year old was an honored member of the Valencia High School’s women’s volleyball team, graduating in 1999. She continued to play, joining the team at College of the Canyons.

She moved on to study at CSUN, earning dual degrees in Psychology and Sociology and became a Certified Life Coach. She also worked as a stuntwoman and had a promising career before her.

Sehenuk’s helping manner is something many of Jenny’s friends wrote about when they asked the news department to help share some of their memories.

“I met Jenny when I played volleyball at COC 10 years ago. The first day I walked in to meet everyone, Jenny gave me a great big hug that I thought was just because I met her for the first time, but no – every single time she saw me, she’d give that big Jenny hug where you thought she hadn’t seen you in over 5 years, but no you just saw her the day before. It didn’t matter – she made you feel like the most important person ever when you were with her. Jenny was the most upbeat person I have known and she could always make you laugh no matter what kind of day you were having.

The first time Jenny and I went to lunch, she said, “I’ll drive – now where’s the box.” I thought a box, but I later found out that she nicknamed her car “the box” and I then found out that she had nicknames for everyone. Most of her friends I never even knew their real names!

Jenny was that person that everyone wanted to be friends with and she had a lot of friends, but she still treated you as if you were her only friend in the world. I have so many special memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life and will make me laugh when they pop in my head. Jenny would randomly text me a word and I would laugh so hard and she always seemed to know the right time to send it too. I won’t have that anymore, but I know Jenny wouldn’t want me to be sad, she would always want me to enjoy life to the fullest and always try new things because that’s what she did. She taught me to look life right in the face, to always cherish my friends and to spend time with them no matter what. She’d drop anything to be with you and I hope that I can be half the friend that she was to me. I love you Jenny and you will be forever missed but you will always remain in my heart.” – Kelli Stien

“I was a friend of Jenny’s from high school. I remember my first year playing varsity volleyball as a sophomore. Jenny befriended me immediately. She made me feel welcome on the team, even when other players did not. When I made a mistake or had a bad game, Jenny was a great support and friend to me.

“Jenny loved country music. I used to hate it. However, when she came over, she always wanted to have CMT on in the background. Now, I am a country music lover, mostly thanks to her.

“I remember going to Idyllwild for a weekend with Jenny and her mom when I was 16. We stayed at Jenny’s family’s cabin. We had a great time playing in the woods, going into town and talking all night long. I remember we listened to a Deana Carter CD on the drive up and back. I had all of the songs memorized by the time we got back to Valencia.

“Jenny used to write lots of letters in high school. I wondered if she ever paid attention in class. 🙂 She would always be waiting outside of my classes to give them to me. She even gave me a handful of letters when I went to church camp when I was 16. I remember she gave me one for every day of the week. She claimed her letters would help the camp go by quicker. Jenny’s handwriting was very distinct, so I always knew which ones were from her.
