On Saturday, May 18th, Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita hosted a Women Empowerment Build (WE Build). Local women gathered and built parts of a neighborhood that will later go into an 87-home community. The projects took place in the parking lot at COC. Female family members who are going to receive homes and female community members worked towards building for the new Habitat for Heroes Veteran community located here in Santa Clarita. This year female veterans, widows of the fallen, and those who have persevered through tragic losses during during wartime were honored. The women at the build were divided up into teams and worked towards specific projects including: painting, hammering, using wood saws, nailing things together, and working with drills to put pieces together.
