Hi, my name is Jakob Daucher and I am a fourth grader in Mr. Boligitz’s class at Old Orchard Elementary School in the Newhall School District. I will be reviewing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, written and illustrated by J.K. Rowling. It was written in 1997 and it is 309 pages long.
This book is about a boy named Harry Potter who lives with his mean aunt, uncle, and cousin because his parents were killed by an evil wizard. On Harry’s 12th birthday, he finds out that he is a wizard and a half-giant named Hagrid takes Harry to a magical school called Hogwarts, a school where you learn witchcraft and wizardry. At Hogwarts, he became friends with a girl named Hermione and a boy named Ron. They find out that the evil Lord Voldemort is after the Sorcerer’s Stone. If you have the stone, you can live forever. Harry and his friends want to find the Sorcerer’s Stone first so they can give it to their headmaster, Dumbledore. Harry and his friends go through many different adventures while they are trying to find the stone. You have to read the book to find out what happens!
I like the book because there’s always something exciting going on with Harry and his friends. When I read it, I feel like I am in the story with them. Harry encounters many obstacles along the way. He runs into a human-like chess set, three-headed dog, and a giant plant.
If you like fantasy and magic, you should read this book!
