Hart School District Performing Arts Fall Calendar

Performing arts programs in the HartSchool District schedule a number of events and programs throughout the holiday season that are open to the public at little or no cost. Please note if advance tickets or reservations are required as some events do sell out. Contact the sponsoring school for further information as noted. The events are listed by date:

Nov. 28 – 29 – PlaceritaJunior High School presents “The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe” Drama Production. 7 pm. Tanner Hall. Bake Sale during intermission to benefit the Placerita Drama Fund. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and can be purchased at the door or school office during regular business hours.

Nov. 28 – 30 – Hart High School presents “A Christmas Carol Chaos” Drama Production. A holiday classic gone totally  wrong . . . a fun show for all. 7 pm. HartHigh School Auditorium. Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 – CanyonHigh School presents “A Company of Wayward Saints,” Drama Production. 7 pm.CanyonHigh School Q Theater. Please contact school for ticket info.

Nov. 29 – 30 – Sierra Vista Junior High Winter Band Concert, both nights 7 pm. Sierra Vista Multipurpose Room. Free admission.

Dec. 1 – Hart High School Dance Team “Hart of the Holidays” show. 4 pm and 7 pm.HartHigh School Auditorium. Admission is $10 at the door only.  Holiday Show and Boutique benefitting Help the Children, Santa Clarita. Non-perishable food items will also be collected.

Dec. 4 – 7 – Valencia High School Theatre Arts presents PROOF, a Pulitzer Prize drama by David Auburn. PROOF is a play about the fine line between genius and insanity and is about romance, overcoming mental illness and Math. This play may not be appropriate for younger than high school age children due to mature and intense themes. Casts change nightly with different students. 7 pm. Valencia High School Theater. Dec. 6 – Rancho Pico Junior High Fall Concert featuring String Orchestra, Advanced, Intermediate and Beginning Bands and Jazz Ensemble. 7 pm. Ranch Pico Multipurpose Room. Admission: $5 at the door only.

Dec. 6 – 8 – Bye Bye Birdie by West Ranch High School Theatre. Return to a simpler time with Bye Bye Birdie, the ultimate feel good musical! 7 pm. West Ranch Theater. Dec. 7 – Sierra Vista Junior High Winter Chorus Concert. 7 pm. Golden Valley High School Theater.

Dec. 7 – SaugusHigh School Choir Winter Concert. 7 pm. HartHigh School Auditorium. Please contact school for ticket info.

Dec. 9 – West Ranch Jazz at WestfieldValenciaTownCenter. 2 pm. Enjoy free admission for an afternoon of jazz, holiday and pop hits from the West Ranch High School Studio A Jazz Band. Performance in the Patios, behind Lucille’s restaurant.

Dec. 10 – PlaceritaJunior High School Orchestra & Choir Concert. 7 pm. HartHigh School Auditorium. Free admission.

Dec. 11 – West Ranch Winter Concert featuring the West Ranch Orchestra and Bands. 7 pm. West Ranch Theater. Admission: $5 at the door only.

Dec. 11 – Arroyo Seco Junior High Holiday Show Choir Concert. 7 pm. Arroyo Seco Multipurpose Room. Admission: $3 at the door only.

Dec. 12 – HartHigh School Ugly Sweater Holiday Instrumental Music Concert. 7 pm. HartHigh School Auditorium. Free admission.

Dec. 13 — Arroyo Seco Junior High Winter Band Concert. 7 pm. Arroyo Seco Multipurpose Room. Admission: $3 at the door only. Students from Beginning and Advanced Bands will be performing festive holiday selections.

Dec. 13 – Golden ValleyHigh School Winter Choral Concert. 7 pm. Golden Valley High School Theater. Tickets are $10, pre-sale and may be purchased at the Golden Valley ASB Office. A Silent Auction and Bake Sale will be held before the concert and during intermission benefitting the Golden Valley choir program.

Dec. 13 – La Mesa Junior High Winter Band Concert. 7 pm.La Mesa Multipurpose Room. Free admission.

Dec 13 – Rio Norte Junior High Winter Choral / Beginning Guitar Concert. 7 pm.Rio Norte Multipurpose Room. Free admission. Bake sale plus opportunity drawing fundraiser to purchase risers for choir.

Dec. 13 – WestRanchHigh School Winter Choral Concert. 7 pm. West Ranch High School Theater. Admission: $7 at the door only.

Dec. 14 – Rio Norte Junior High Winter Band Concert, including band, strings and drum line. 7 pm.Rio Norte Multipurpose Room. Free admission. Bake sale plus opportunity drawing fundraiser for the Trevor Matthews Memorial Instrumental Scholarship.

Dec. 14 – West Ranch Jazz Band Concert, “The Beatles 50th Anniversary: A Jazz Tribute.” 7 pm. West Ranch Theater. Performances by the West Ranch Jazz Combos, Studio A Jazz Band and West Ranch Lab Band will include popular Beatles songs as well as other classics. Admission: $5. Dec. 14 – Golden ValleyHigh School Band Holiday Concert. 7 pm. Golden Valley High School Theater. Admission is $5 at the door only. A Silent Auction and snack sale will be held before the concert and during intermission benefitting the Golden Valley band program.

Dec. 14 – Canyon High School Band Winter Concert. 7 pm.CanyonHigh School Gymnasium. Please contact school for ticket info.

Dec. 14 – Hart High School Choir Winter Concert. 7 pm. Hart High School Auditorium. Tickets prices are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Premium seats are $15. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or in advance, contact Gail Hart at ghart@hartdistrict.org.

Dec. 15 – GO Jazz Band annual pre-holiday performance of “Jazz in the Afternoon.” 3 pm. West Ranch High School Theater. GO Jazz is the GoldenOakAdultSchool jazz band made up of local professional- level adult musicians under the direction of Bob Babko, retired former band director at two Hart District high schools.  Ticket prices are $10 general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens. Dec. 19 – Valencia High School Winter Concert featuring Band and Choir. 7 pm. Valencia High School Theater. Admission: $5 at the door only.

Jan. 25 – 26, 2013 – Hart High School Choir Pop Show performance. 7 pm. Hart High Auditorium. Tickets prices a will be $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Premium seats $15. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or in advance, contact Gail Hart at ghart@hartdistrict.org.

March 2, 2013 – District Honor Band Concert, featuring 175 top band students selected by audition will perform under guest conductors Michael Stone, Visual and Performing Arts coordinator for the BakersfieldCitySchool District and Dr. Mitch Fennell, director of bands at CSU Fullerton. 7:30 pm, HartHigh School Auditorium. Tickets: $12.

March 6, 7, 8, 2013 – Arroyo Seco Junior High presents “Footloose,” the musical presented by the Drama Department. 7 pm. Arroyo Seco Multipurpose Room. Ticket prices: $7 for adults and $3 for students and children.

March 19 – 20, 2013 – Instrumental Music Showcase concerts featuring Rancho Pico Junior High and WestRanchHigh School ensembles. Tuesday is Band Showcase, with West Ranch Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, plus Rancho Pico Advanced Band and combined Beginning/Intermediate Band. Wednesday is Orchestra / Jazz Showcase, with orchestras from both schools, two jazz ensembles from West Ranch and the Rancho Pico jazz ensemble. 7 pm both nights. West Ranch High School Theater. Admission at the door is $5, with a two-night discount ticket available for purchase at the door Tuesday night.

March 26 – 27, 2013 — Santa Clarita Band & Orchestra Festival sponsored by Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA), hosted at West Ranch High School Theater. School bands and orchestras from the Hart district and other local districts perform at 30 minute intervals and receive evaluation and ratings from adjudicators. Groups will perform from roughly 1 – 9 pm. The final performance schedule will be available about two weeks prior to the festival. Public is invited, free admission.

May 9, 2013 – Rancho Pico Junior High Spring Concert featuring String Orchestra, Advanced, Intermediate and Beginning Bands and Jazz Ensemble. 7 pm. Ranch Pico Multipurpose Room. Admission: $5 at the door only.

About Kyle Jellings

Kyle Jellings grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and graduated from Canyon High School in 2004. Following his high school career he spent three years at College of the Canyons where he graduated with his Associate's Degree. Kyle then traveled to Utah where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Communication: Journalism emphasis from Utah Valley University. While in Utah, Kyle had the opportunity to do many different internships which included a Production Assistant at ESPN 700 and a Media Relations Assistant with the 2009 MLS Cup Champions Real Salt Lake. Kyle was married to his wife Paola in 2008 and they had their first child, Calvin, in August of 2010. When Kyle is not at KHTS he enjoys spending time with his family and being involved in sports in any way.
