Hosts: Alex Urbina and Wendy Amara
Topic: Personal Integrity
Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – April 29, 2013
On today’s show Alex and Wendy discussed personal integrity, what it means to you and what it is, and how important it is for you to have to become the leader you can be.
To me it means staying to your word and your commitments, said Wendy.
When you say being your word, does that mean staying to your word, said Alex.
Yes, the people that are true to their word you can count on, for example if you need a ride at 3am from the airport you can count on them.
Those people are the ones with integrity, they will be there for you.
The question is to ask yourself where you are on your word. How often do you say I will see you at 9 o’clock and show up at 9:15.
I had a friend that would make plans with ten different people on a weekend and choose the best one and grew up to be someone you can’t trust really, Alex said.
Without trust you can’t build relationships, people are keeping track if they can trust you and keep mental notes.
Personal integrity comes out with your kids, because they watch you like a hawk and take everything you say and do. They want to see if you are walking the walk and not just talking. They will see if you follow your own advice.
The definition is often not able to be defined in words. When I ask what integrity is most say it is a feeling they have and know when they feel it but can’t articulate it out loud.
