On today’s show Alex sits down with Carl Goldman, co-owner of KHTS AM 1220 and talk about being a conscious father in today’s society.
“What does it mean to be a conscious father,” Alex said.
It is being aware and answering the question of are you not only providing but listening to them.
I realized that quantity time with my kids is great but the quality time is even better, Goldman said. I’ve noticed that in the past I were checked out and doing other things but I came to the realization that it was happening too often.
To be a conscious father you really have to take a step back and look at yourself and justify what you are bringing to the family, either being there or not so much.
As a parent I would often let my sons get by with saying there day was great and that is it, Goldman said.
The conscious parent is about be willing to go the extra mile and check in with them, Alex said. Just start a dialogue.
Yeah, texting is great but there is nothing like a face to face talk with your parents, Courtney said.
I believe that having a face to face interaction and looking into someone elses eyes, i can tell there is a response and sadly I feel that it is slowly dying out, Alex said.
One thing that lasts in our family is dinner time, Alex said. No matter what we talk about, the thing that is important is that we are talking.
