Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – February 10, 2014
On today’s show, Alex Urbina and Wendy Amara talk about passion. Do the kids today have it? Do they even know what it is? Alex and Wendy invite parents of SCVi Charter School to discuss passion in young learners/students.
Alex asked, Could you say that traditional school today kills passion, and does not let students grow and live up to their best potential?
Of course I believe that, one parent said. It is important to let our kids grow and allow them to express their passion and guide them rather than shutting them down.
At SCVi they allow the learners/students to guide their own education and explore avenues they want to, not being shut down to a certain lesson plan put it place.
My son is having an issue with talking in front of people but since at SCVi that has gone way down and isn’t such an issue anymore.
What else have you noticed in your kids since at SCVi?
One major role or change my son has had is that he has transferred from being the kid that needs some help from others to the one who helps others. And a great thing SCVi charter does is that the facilitators/teachers allow for that change to happen.
One thing great at SCVi is that the teachers do not step in, instead they allow growth to occur.
