Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – February 24, 2014

On today’s show Alex and Wendy sit down with SCVi Charter school and talk about growth mindset.

In today’s school system growth mindset is often overlooked. The teachers have the mindset of I am the teacher and I know better. However at SCVi the teachers/facilitators allow for the kids to teach them as well.

Everyone is working on growing together and just learning.

At SCVi, we encourage the kids to teach each other and get out of their comfort zone and that opens so many possibilities.

For me, that is where the juice is, that is where growth truly happens, Alex said. When you get out of your comfort zone you are truly experiencing new things.

Our mind is so powerful, we create so many doubt and fears but you have to overcome them and really get over it.

What growth mindset is all about is modeling. We have to show our kids it is okay to step out of your comfort zone.
