Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – February 3, 2014

Alex Urbina and Wendy Amara cracked open quite the veritable philosophic question. They questioned the meaning of self expression. For example, Wendy brought up how human being are always in a continuous stage of self expression, whether they are conscious of the process or not. So Alex brings up the question, “do the people we love the most, truly know that we love them?” And even more specifically, “How do we know our expressions are landing?” Alex notes that his track record of success in communicating with his loved ones, and all those around him, partially lies in his ability to get vulnerable. Alex Urbina then really touched on how important it is, to be able to lower one’s walls and be susceptible to everything. This process strengthens one’s spirit, ultimately giving them true confidence – and not having to rely on a mask, or showing up a certain way in front of their peers, but relying on their own love of self and ability to love others in a focused manner. This is a very direct and effective way to truly self express, but The Life Leadership Hosts also note that there can be a bumps in the road on communicating self expression. For example, being vulnerable allows the possibility to get hurt. And if your goal is to effectively self express, you must be prepared for the scenario. It takes courage to ask the people in our lives, “How much do you think I love you?” Because the answers can sometimes be shockingly contradictory to our intentions. Because Alex is so confident in his actions, he is very prepared to handle any feelings of rejection he may receive when expecting approval. He asks his listeners to also feel this way – to remember that feedback is a gift, and gives the opportunity to reinvent oneself.
