This is Life Leadership with Alex Urbina, right here on your Home Town Station, AM 1220 KHTS.  Today I have my lovely co-host, Wendy Amara.

Today I want to talk about self leadership.  The first distinction I want to make is learning how to be bigger than your circumstances.  For me during my leadership growth, this is still something that is still ongoing. At some point, I had to flip the switch inside of me so I could say, “I can do that”.  And anything that gets in the way of my goal, I am bigger than that, and I can think outside the box, I should never give up.

And by circumstance Alex, you mean what the things in life that gets in the way? Like a car braking down? Yes exactly, that is a big one.  Imagine you are taking your family on vacation, you are on your way to the airport.  You get a flat tire, in that moment, you have to stop and check in with yourself, realize you can handle the flat tier.  This is not the first flat tier you have encountered, just get it done and get on with your vacation.  It is very common that people will start getting into resistance, they will start bickering, get angry and frustrated and yelling at kids, when all they need to do is a simple fix.

When you have life experiences of overcoming obstacles, you now create a new belief that you are that powerful.  When you come out of a huge fiasco in your life, you believe you are powerful and you can handle anything.  So the question is where do you stop, when do you reach that point where you say “you know what, as soon as triple A gets here, we are packing it up and going home.” At what point do you just throw in the towel, you have allowed that circumstance become bigger than you.

The flat tier ruined your trip.  Well the flat did not ruin the trip, it is easy to see it like that.  The Flat tier is just part of the cause and effect in life, you allowed the flat tier to take over your emotions, and you and your emotions ruined the family trip.
