Welcome to Life Leadership with Alex Urbina, right here on your Home Town Station AM 1220 KHTS.  I am your host Alex Urbina.    This show is brought to you by SCVi Charter school.  Joining us today is Andrew on the bored and our guests today is Amber Raskin of SCVi Charter School, along with her is Tara Borja and Jenny Williams. Thank you for being here ladies, I really appreciate it.  The question I want to ask you is when does leadership start?  Is it an age thing?  No I believe it is a life style, and the earlier you start to teach those habits the better.  Sometimes you will work with teenagers and learn that the things you are trying to teach them really need to be taught to them at around one.

I am a firm believer that leadership starts when they are born.  And as a parent the things that we say can come to taint that belief in our children.

When it gets to school, I believe that as parents we need to draw out the creativity in the house, this is your house, jump on the couch, explore it, but when we get to school it is all about discipline, sit down be quiet.

Yes this is something that me and my husband where reading about.  We talk about the mustard on pancakes concept.  As a society we never really put mustard on a pancake, but there is nothing to say that it is wrong.  What you should be doing instead of stopping the child from trying it is asking if that is what they like, and letting them experience for themselves.  Draw the leadership out of them.  I think the way to be a good parent to make a kid a powerful leader is to ask them questions.

Absolutely, it is all about taking a coaching roll and a facilitator, which is what I love for the facilitators in the house to do.

Now why do you do that? You are the only school I have ever seen that calls the teachers facilitators, and I actually love that.
