Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – October 21, 2013
On today’s show Alex and Wendy talk about personal identity and ask the question who are you.
Who are you, what are you worth and how do you see yourself.
I am whatever I choose to be, Wendy said.
What is great about what you said is that you are clear and present of being someone of choice, Alex said. Some people still think that they are their achievements, they are their title, their past or mistakes. People have attached certain things to themselves because of what they think they are.
You have to be careful when attaching yourself to external things because when that goes what happens next.
At SCVi Charter School in Santa Clarita is focused on personal identity and have incorporated new teaching techniques where developing personal identity is the core goal for the learners to grow.
One way we developed personal identity was through history. We took a look at the declaration of independence and I asked them to take a look at their own lives and see what they believe in.
By doing that we were able to connect to the declaration by exploring themselves. By them looking inside it gave a new perspective on why those gentleman in history did what they did.
