From nhl.com:
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Los Angeles Kings center Jarret Stoll will likely miss the game Saturday against the Nashville Predators with an injury, coach Darryl Sutter said.
Sutter didn’t specify the injury, but Kings general manager Dean Lombardi told the Los Angeles Times it was an upper-body injury. Stoll absorbed a hit from center Derek Dorsett of the Vancouver Canucks early in the third period Thursday.
“He didn’t skate [Friday] and he didn’t skate today, so he’s probably not going to be available tonight,” Sutter said before the Kings played the Predators at Staples Center.
Center Andy Andreoff will replace Stoll in the lineup unless the Kings make a roster move. If Stoll is out for a significant amount of time, the Kings could recall center Mike Richards, who was demoted to the American Hockey League in January.
Center Anze Kopitar also did not skate because his wife, Ines, had the couple’s first child, Neza, early Saturday morning. Kopitar is expected to play.
“We’ll see how the day goes,” Sutter said.
Kings defenseman Alec Martinez skated with the team for the first time since he sustained a concussion from a hit by forward Cedric Paquette of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb.7.
“Obviously I’m feeling better because I’m out there,” Martinez said. “I got some skating in today, and I’m finally able to join the team today. That feels good. I kind of feel like [I’m] a part of things again.”
Martinez said it’s a matter of conditioning for him to take the next step. He said he looks forward to coming back to a team that’s won four of five games to stay in the hunt for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
“It’s been really fun to watch as of late,” he said. “Obviously it’s a double-edged sword. You want to see your team do well, but it’s also hard being out because you want to be part of the team. You want to contribute. You want to play. Regardless of the type of injury, when you’re out, you want to get back in there, so it’s been both good and bad.”
It is the first game between the teams since the Kings scored three goals in the final 2:01 of regulation to tie it before it lost 7-6 in overtime at Staples Center on Jan.3.
Nashville is 1-7-0 in its past eight games and hasn’t won a game in regulation since Feb. 24, partly because of a lack of offense. It has scored 13 goals in eight games and has gone 0-for-16 the last six games on the power play.
The Predators will play at the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
