Since 2006, Real Life Church of Santa Clarita has partnered with Children of the Nations International to help better the lives of children living in Uganda. Last summer, many people from Real Life Church participated in a trip to the small town of Lira, Uganda to experience the life of the children and spend time with them in a way that touched the hearts of many.
Pastor Brandon Beard, Life Groups pastor at Real Life Church, has led many venture groups to Uganda and has participated in the building of children’s orphanages in both southern and northern Uganda.
This years journey among other things will be aimed at helping the students be successful in education.
“This year we are going to be doing programs in kids schools and we are going to be doing some tutoring,” said Beard.
Beard also mentioned that they will be sorting out and distributing the contents of a 40 foot shipping container. Last year, Real Life Church placed the shipping container in their parking lot and allowed people to drop off items to fill the container with needed items for the people of Uganda.

Nicole Younger had the opportunity to visit Uganda through the Real Life Church’s Mission: Uganda last year and said her experience was nothing short of life-changing.
“Their culture is more about relationships. We are so used to the LA way of busy busy busy, that’s not their culture. They want to get to know you and are so excited that you came all the way from the United States just to be with them,” Younger said.
Last year, a Real Life Church venture team was able to build a gazebo and the teams also took part in interacting with the children and encouraging them to stay in school.
This year, Younger has again chosen to take the trip to Africa to inspire and be inspired by the youth that live in Uganda. Younger said her decision to visit for a second time was a decision she easily made.
“The kids there and the love that they give really inspired me to help kids. I knew what I wanted to do was help orphans so I wanted to go back to help again and be there for the kids,” Younger said.
Two teams of people are set to leave for Uganda this summer, the first team consisting of 15 people will leave on July 2 while the second team of 10 people will leave on July 13. Both teams will stay in Lira, Uganda for 10 days.
Younger has asked for donations to aid her in her hopes in attending this year’s trip to Uganda. Having already gathered $2,000, Younger hopes for $3,000 more which will go towards her plane ticket, food, immunizations, lodging, and many other expenses.
Donations to help Younger can be made out to Real Life Church with a notation for Nicole Younger. The checks can be sent to Real Life Church at 23841 Newhall Ranch Road, Valencia Ca, 91387.
