Santa Clarita’s Unsung Hero – Eva Payne

“Santa Clarita’s Unsung Heroes,” brought to you by your friends at Mercedes-Benz of Valencia, focuses the spotlight on those working behind the scenes who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and make the impossible a reality.

The nonprofit Project Kindle organization provides cost-free camping programs, year- round support and advocacy, recreational experiences and peer-based HIV/AIDS education for young people ages 12 to 24.

Eva founded Project Kindle in her native Nebraska, then opened the Project Kindle West summer camp in Santa Clarita in 2005.

And she does a masterful job of directing Project Kindle while being a mother of six kids here in Santa Clarita.

That’s why Eva Payne is KHTS’s latest Santa Clarita Unsung Hero, brought to you by Mercedes-Benz of Valencia.

  1. Did you know that Eva Payne Founder of Project Kindle has left her husband Chad Payne and her 6 children? Eva is currently living with a 19 year old former HIV camper turned junior counselor by the name of Julian. This deeply concerns me for many reasons, one being the safety of the other children/campers! I hope someone is able to bring this to light. Thank you

  2. I would not call Eva Payne an Unsung Hero at all!
