The latest addition of the Santa Clarita Valley Gazette Radio Hour started off a little differently than normally. Rather than Doug Sutton unleashing his weekly rant on the airwaves, John Rogers took the first segment talking about all of his wishes, woes and ideas for the new 2014 year. Now, while Doug explicitly took a pass on his rant, every topic John proposed somehow seemed to irk Doug’s nerves to unprecedented levels of frustration, confusion, and just plain rage. It was never John’s intention to anger Doug, however, it seems unavoidable when looking at their constant bickering.
So John Rogers decided to ease his buddy’s consciousness away from all the stressful and pertinent issues engaging America (specifically the Santa Clarita Valley) to the wonderfully pleasant and soothing sounds of the one and only: SCV Gazette Girls, Miss Classifieds and Miss Entertainment. Doug and John invited them to come on air again because of all the fun and exciting things they know are happening in the Santa Clarita Valley. For example, Miss Entertainment talked about all things music related and Miss Classifieds shared her top picks of the Classifieds listing from the SCV Gazette and Free Classifieds. The next segment, arguably even more tantalizing, was an update from Ben Oakley. Ben Oakley writes the restaurant reviews for the SCV Gazette and Free Classifieds, and he described in detail his latest experience dining in Santa Clarita.
After Ben, Doug was pretty excited to introduce his next guest: Perry Smith, the News Director of KHTS. Perry Smith is an accomplished writer, reporter and all around great guy. Doug was trying for ages to get him to come on the SCV Gazette Radio Hour. It proved very difficult to pry Perry from his workstation for even a second, because he so closely and actively monitors the Santa Clarita Valley for breaking news. That is exactly what Perry touched on when he was in the studio, and much more. Perry spoke about Santa Clarita’s most popular stories and shocking news reports from all of 2013.
