Wilk Weekly Update – August 7, 2013

Thank you for tuning into Scott Wilk’s Weekly Update, right here on Santa Clarita’s Hometown Station, AM 1220 KHTS.

What Is Happening In Congress In The Next 6 Weeks?…

There are 6 weeks left in the legislative session and to be honest its hard to tell what is going to happen.  We have been dealing with bills that have been coming out of the senate but there is some legislation that has not moved, one such issues would be reforming unemployment insurance.  Because of the great recession, California has depleted all of it’s funds.

Due to the fact that the senate is off this week, we are going to wrap up all of our committee sessions.

What Is California’s 38th District?…

Assemblyman Scott Wilk, you serve the 38th district, which is north into Castaic and south into Simi Valley, does the different parts of the district that you look over have different needs?  I would say no, even though they are in three basic geographic areas, they all tend to have similar needs.  The only time there seemed to be a difference in interests between parts of the district was the new student funding formula for k-12 because Santa Clarita and Simi Valley would end up losing money.  Eventually the funding was tweaked, therefor over the long run it worked out for everyone.

Make sure to tune into Wilk Weekly Update every Wednesday 5:10 p.m. on KHTS AM 1220 giving you the latest news in Sacramento and how it impacts our Santa Clarita Valley.
