- The Affordable Care Act is the law of the land – It’s now important to develop ways to work within the new law minimizing cost and increasing consumer choice
- Assemblyman Wilk serves in the California Legislature and was not in Congress to vote against Obamacare
- Assemblyman Wilk supports the one year extension to allow those whose plan would have been canceled under the new rules to keep their current health care plan for an additional year
- We need to find fiscally-responsible reforms and solutions that will give patients more affordable choices without raising taxes or growing government
- The mailer Assemblyman Wilk sent out was designed to help constituents navigate this complex and burdensome law
3. Senator Ron Calderon Update
- The Senate Rules Committee voted unanimously to remove Senator Ron Calderon on his 10 standing and select committees
- Being stripped of his committee assignments prevents Calderon from having a say on bills before they are voted on by the full Senate and Assembly
- California Latino Legislative Caucus plans to remove the Senator from its executive board to eliminate distractions that could impede the group’s progress
4. Assembly Bill 1221 Amendments
- Assemblyman Wilk introduced amendments this week to my bill AB 1221 and it will be focusing on the dismissal of teachers who engage in egregious acts with students (sexs, drugs, violence)
