SCV Highlights: New Lineup Of Music Set To Rock Newhall For 2015 Cowboy Festival

The 2015 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, will bring a wider range of rockin’ musical genres than ever hosted before in the wildest Western event of the season. From Cowboy crooning to Rockabilly rhythm, more than 40 musical acts will shake up four stages at William S. Hart Park and three venues in Old Town Newhall.

Admission to the main Cowboy Festival on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 at William S. Hart Park includes access to performances by 15 bands and artists on four different stages: the Logix Stage, the Wild West Stage, Hart Hall and the Cowboy Corral.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Logix Stage and Hart Hall will light up with the Western swing and classic country sound of the Carolyn Sills Combo and the jaw-dropping musicianship of Allegretto & Espinoza. Bluegrass and folk performances will also take to both stages with Sons & Brothers, Old Salt Union,The Get Down Boys and The Haunted Windchimes.

The Wild West Stage at Hart Park will host young Western music sensations Mikki Daniel and Kristyn Harris, followed by Cowboy storytelling fromJoe Herrington and dazzling magic acts from Pop Haydn. Performances at theCowboy Corral will get festival-goers into the Wild West mood with the authentic Civil War Brass Band music of the Band of the California Battalion, the intertribal pow wow drum group Wild Horse Singers and Dancers and the gun spinning of Hollywood Gun Coach Joey Dillon.

Separate ticketed performances are available for purchase from Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19 at the Canyon Theatre Guild, located at 24266 Main Street, Repertory East Playhouse, located at 24242 Main Street and The Vu Bar and Lounge, located at 22505 8th Street.

On Saturday, the Canyon Theatre Guild will host Cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell with the Haunted Windchimes, Grammy nominated singer-guitarist Don Edwards with Kristyn Harris and iconic Canadian Cowboy singer and songwriterIan Tyson with poet/storyteller Chris Isaacs. On Sunday, Mikki Daniel and Western entertainer Dave Stamey will take the stage, followed by the upbeat, three-part family harmonies of the Sons of San Joaquin.

The Repertory East Playhouse will host Rosie Flores and her award-winning honky tonk and rockabilly sound on Friday, April 17. On Saturday, April 18 contemporary country singer Savannah Burrows will open, followed by the folk music of Susie Glaze and the Hilonesome Band and the fun-lovin’ masters of Dixieland blues, The California Feetwarmers. Sunday, April 19 will feature an exciting lineup of folk, rockabilly and honky tonk music from Tiny & Mary, Deke Dickerson and The Lucky Stars.

The Vu Bar and Lounge will feature four exciting shows Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19 with a variety of rockabilly and psychobilly acts. Hard Six, Gamblers Mark, Scarlot Harlot and The Resistors will take the stage on Fridayevening. Saturday will feature an afternoon show with The Buckhenries, Karling & the Kadavers and Kim Lenz and her Jaguars, and an evening show with Blue Collar Combo, Silvertooth Loos & the Witch and the Rhythm Shakers. Sunday will close with an afternoon performance from Six Silver Bullets, Galatic Polecats andThree Bad Jacks.

Kyle Jellings grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and graduated from Canyon High School in 2004. Following his high school career he spent three years at College of the Canyons where he graduated with his Associate's Degree. Kyle then traveled to Utah where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Communication: Journalism emphasis from Utah Valley University.
