Welcome to the Senior Hour brought to you by Santa Clarita’s Home Town Station, AM 1220 KHTS.  This show is for about and by seniors to help you improve your quality of life.

Bill, you are retired, so what have you been doing those 8 years?  Too much, it seems like everyone thinks that retirement is all about relaxing and playing golf, but I continue to consult, and I teach classes at College of the Canyons.  I have also picked up the proverbial pen and wrote a novel.  So let us talk about life after retirement.  When we retire, we shed al the need to and should do.  We louse all this stress and wait.

And not only have you kept busy, you have been doing a lot of work around the house.  Yes this is true, but my main passion has been writing lately.  How does being an engineer help you write a novel? Well it did not help much.  Engineers tend to be organized, so I did a good job at drafting and outlining at all.  Also engineers tend to write very technical papers, and novels being so different, it did not help much.

We will be talking more about life after retirement when we come back from our brake.  So stay tuned to The Senior Hour, brought to you by your Home Town Station AM1220 KHTS.

Welcome back to the show, we are talking to Bill about his book. So you sat down and thought, I am going to pick up a pen and start writing a book.  How did you use your engineering back ground to write your character?  Well people have this thought that engineers are dweebs, dorks, and nerds.  That is not true.  Engineers are kind of like a painter or composing a symphony.  They sit down, look at a problem and you have to conger a solution.  So you kind of live in a world of fantasy.  So the jump from engineer’s creativity and fantasy to a writer’s, was a small one.

In this book, the main character works at a boring job that does not let him innovate.  He meets this beautiful electrical engineer and they start their own company.
