The Senior Hour – March 20, 2013
Barbara Cochran took the day off today but filling in for Barbara was Robin Clough,Director of Volunteers & Recreation at The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center.
Dr. Thomas Polucki was on for the first half of the show today and he wanted to talk about Alzheimer’s Disease. According to a recent study, “Data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed the risk of death from the degenerative brain disease rose 39 percent between 2000 and 2010 even as mortality rates for other conditions such as cancer, heart disease and stroke fell significantly. Separate findings from the Alzheimer’s Association based on CDC data, but looking at actual deaths, found mortality up 68 percent over the same decade.”

City Councilwoman Marsha McClean also stopped by the Senior Hour to talk about an event happening Saturday June 15 at Central Park, it is called “Touch-a-Truck.” The event will help raise funds for the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center.
