The Real Side – March 26, 2013
On the show today:
The Supreme Court of the United States is debating California’s controversial Proposition 8 today. Decisions won’t be announced until the court is adjourned, but this is something Jow continues to follow…
There’s a school in the United Kingdom that apparently is banning flapjacks that are shaped in triangles, after a pupil was hit in the eye with one. Joe questions if this type of ban was really necessary, even if what the UK considers flapjacks are a bit different than what we would normally consider flapjacks.
The Los Angeles Times published an article recently on how America is at risk from another terrorist attack. But not from jihadists. There are increasingly frightening numbers of American men who are ready to fight the government. White, right-wing Americans could be the next jihadists, according to the Times. Joe’s take: Are they real? Joe says, you buy the Times for one reason only: because you have an animal that needs to relieve itself.
Today’s guest in the second half of the hour: Dr. Gregory Jantz discusses a recent study finding those who reported either bullying or being bullied as children were most likely as adults (more than those w/ significant family hardship) to be diagnosed with depression and suicide. How do bullies get created? What causes someone to come a bully. Joe has thoughts, and Dr. Jantz has answers.
