Total Financial Solutions Safer Money Hour With Arif Halaby – Tuesday, July 2, 2013

Arif and Jeff cracked open the first hour with some paradigm shattering advice. The idea of following your dreams and the money will follow, is wild goose chase. In fact, Arif would argue to do what you’re skilled at, and the money will follow. To do what people will pay you for, means the money will follow – and maybe, just maybe by following this less common paradigm, you will be prepared for retirement. Jeff adds that pursuing your dreams is very possible, however, no matter what someone pursues in life, be it food on the table for children, or living the single life – that person absolutely must live below their means. This is necessary in order to save hard earned money, prepare for retirement, and be ready in case of emergencies. Arif also notes the many ways we interact with money, specifically in the USA. The President for example is borrowing over 40 million dollars to go to Africa. Whether you think it is good diplomacy, or whatever, just look at the numbers. He is borrowing money from me, you, Saudia Arabia, and more – who is going to pay that back? He isn’t going to be in office that long, and everybody knows that. Imagine if that was you, would you spend money you didn’t have? Knowing you can’t pay it back? Well most people do not have the luxury of unlimited spending, and with leaders spending as much as possible – it can become very easy to emulate that, especially for this nation’s youth, but it is a formula for disaster.
