At 3:23 a.m. a Bell 206 helicopter being used as a camera platform to film a movie crashed resulting in 3 fatalities, officials said Sunday afternoon.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel are handling the recovery of the bodies and investigators from OSHA and NTSB are responding. NTSB will be the lead investigative agency.

“We have an investigator on scene, and we do not have any definitive info at this point, we are trying to gather information regarding what happened that caused this accident,” said Keith Holloway Public Affairs for The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)

The NTSB reports that the accident involving the “Bell 206 helicopter” is currently under investigation and more information will be reported as soon as it is available.

A first responder who was on the scene reported that the three individuals in the helicopter, “middle-aged men,” were pronounced dead on the scene.

KCAL Channel 9 is reporting that the use of the helicopter may have been related to filming in the area. A production company recently filed for permits to film a reality television show with the use of a helicopter. That filming apparently began Saturday.

Television footage showed mangled wreckage in a rugged canyon area near Soledad Canyon Road.

The Polsa Rosa Ranch Area is privately owned land that is typically rented out as a location by production companies.
