Veterans Day Ceremony – November 11, 2012

On Sunday, November 11th, the City of Santa Clarita hosted its annual Veterans Day Ceremony.  The event was held at the Veterans Historical Plaza in Newhall.  Veterans from all branches of the military were honored at the ceremony.  Speakers at the event included: Duane Harte, J.D. Kennedy, Rabbi Blazer, Mayor Frank Ferry, Councilmember Marsha McLean, Master Sgt. Eldonna Fernandez, Councilmember Laurene Weste and others.  A table set for one symbolized the plight of POW’s and their families.  JROTC members performed a rifle demonstration.  The Four of Hearts, an a capella group from Hart High School, sang “God Bless the USA” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”  Heather Kate Duncan sang the “National Anthem” and Gayle La Rone sang “God Bless America.”   The Young Marines acted as the Color Guard.
