2008 Radio Segments
January 8, 2007, we featured Thomas Harris and Brian Waschak – both 9 Years-Old. Thomas and Brian are members of Wallers’ Boy’s Gymnastics Team under Coach Karl Ziehn. They recently traveled to Bakersfield for their first competition of this season.

On February 12, 2008, Cindy Waller brought three level-5 gymnasts to the KHTS Community Resource Station for our radio segment. Whitney Ortega (10), Anika Drake (10) and Lilia Waller (Cindy’s daughter) (8). These girls just returned from a gymnastics competition in Chicago and made a great showing there along with other gymnasts from GymJam

Wallers’ GymJam Academy is owned and directed by Cindy and Chris Waller. Cindy has been involved in gymnastics since 1978.
April 10, 2008, we welcomed back Jae Kinney (9) who moved to Santa Clarita Six months ago from Ohio. He has been doing gymnastics for over three years and is happy that he found Wallers’GymJam Academy. The location of Wallers’ played a major part in the Kinney’s decision to relocate to the Santa Clarita Valley.
Ashley’s strong events are Bars and Vault. She has been involved in gymnastics since she was 3 years-old and competing since age 7.
Wallers’ recently held their 2nd Annual Mini Olympics – a show for recreational gymnasts where groups of kids represent different countries and perform routines they have learned in class. Each participant took their place on the awards stage and received a medal at the end of the show.
Kelly and Denise participate in the adult gymnastics class on Monday nights and seem to have a ball.
On May 22, 2008 Owner/Head Coach Chris Waller came by the KHTS Community Resource Station for our GymJam radio segment and spoke about upcoming events taking place at Wallers’ GymJam Academy.
On June 3, 2008 – we welcomed back Dani Dorris (14) and Coach Mohini Barry. Dani is currently a Level 9 Gymnast from Los Angeles and has competed in gymnastics for 12 years. She has been on the GymJam team for 3 years and has hopes for a college scholarship. Mohini Barry is a coach on the Women’s team at Wallers’ and is an Olympian. Mohini won a Silver Medal at the 2004 Athens Games.
On June 5, 2008, Mike Dowler welcomed Matt Bengston (17) to the KHTS Community Resource Station for our GymJam radio segment. Matt began training at Wallers’ about 8-months ago. In just one year, he has advanced to Level 9 gymnastics with trampoline and tumbling being his strong events. In addition to competing on the GymJam Men’s Team, he has also taken on training responsibilities too.
Kaitlyn competed against 48 other gymnasts and placed first in Tumbling. She also competes on the trampoline. She has been participating in gymnastics since she was 3 and has been at Wallers’ GymJam Academy for one year and has aspirations of going to the Olympics.

On July 24, 2008, we spoke with Molly Pearlman (15) from Burbank. After taking some time off from gymnastics, Molly has resumed her training – recently joining the GymJam women’s team and is preparing to compete in Level-9 Beam, Floor and Vaulting events.

On September 11, 2008, Cindy Waller came by with two awesome gymnasts. Erica Fontaine (10) and Lilia Waller
(9) have both recently won the All-Around in their age division for Level 6 at the ‘Judges Cup’ held in
Camarillo. It was the first meet of the season.
On October 2, 2008, we had the honor of speaking with 9-year old Paige McNabb. Paige is a Level 4 gymnast on the GymJam team who has been training since the age of 2. She recently won in the All-Around at a competition in Temecula and wants to go to the Olympics.
October 23, 2008, we were visited by 10 year-old Kristi Kim. Kristi has been doing gymnastics for 2-years and competed for the first time at the beginning of the year. A Level 5 gymnast, Kristi is quickly moving up after a good showing in Long Beach. She has also qualified to compete in the Sectional Championships – the qualifier for the State Championships.
On Thursday, November 14, 2008, we were joined by Maya Davis (11) – a Level 6 gymnast at Wallers’. Maya recently competed at the Southern State Championships held at Cal State Pomona. She is the current Level 6 champion in Vaulting and would love to
compete in the Olympics one day.
