Hometown Sports Report 04-22-08

The second trip through the Foothill League starts today for the softball teams, and mirroring years past it’s been all Valencia and Hart so far.  The defending National Champion Vikings, winners of seven straight Foothill League crowns, have been somewhat disappointing this year, despite an 18-5 record, going 3-1 in league so far.  The Vikings have yet to play West Ranch because of tournament play, so the two teams will meet twice before league ends.  Hart sits atop league with a 15-3 record, 5-0 in league play.  Destiny Rodino has been nothing short of fantastic for the Indians so far, proving her UCLA scholarship to be no fluke.  Saugus and Canyon sit third and fourth, with Golden Valley and West Ranch bringing up the rear.  The Vikings head to Canyon today, while Hart goes to West Ranch and Golden Valley hosts Saugus.

The Los Angeles Dodgers used a lead-off home run from Rafael Furcal and a two-run shot from Nomar Garciaparra to beat Cincinnati, 9-3 yesterday.  The Dodgers complete the road trip today against the Reds; live on KHTS at 3:40pm.
