The Newhall Land Cup Foothill League Boy’s Golf Final produced some historic performances yesterday.  West Ranch High School can now say they have a Foothill League Champion, after the Wildcats team score of 385 secured their sixth win in as many events in league play.  Hart’s Johnny MacArthur avoided a repeat of last year’s collapse, shooting a game low 69 to win the tournament and league MVP honors.  MacArthur will be joined by fellow Indian Tanner Diaz, Valencia’s Max Homa, and the West Ranch trio of J.J. Holen, Jay Lim, and Ryan Weltig as the Foothill League representatives in the playoffs.

In perhaps the least shocking development of the year, Hart High clinched both the boy’s and girl’s Foothill League Swim Championships yesterday.  Both the boy’s and girls bested Saugus by 90 or more points.

Hart used a bases loaded walk-off single from Spencer Moniz to defeat Saugus, 4-3.  Hart sits atop of league play with a 9-1 record, and Saugus falls to 7-3 with West Ranch sitting just behind the Centurions in the race for the final playoff spot.  The Wildcats took care of Canyon, 14-8, to close to just two games back of the Centurions.

The Los Angeles Dodgers jumped to an early lead and cruised the rest of the way in a much needed win over baseball’s best team, Arizona, 8-3.  The Dodgers and D-Backs go at it again tonight, live on KHTS at 6:30pm.
