Round two goes to the Vikings.  Valencia softball guaranteed themselves at least a share of their eighth straight Foothill League title, granted the Vikings win their final two games, with a 2-1 victory over Hart yesterday.  Viking sophomore Madison Shipman drove in both runs to bring the Vikings (7-1) within a half-game of Hart (8-1).  Saugus waited until the 13th inning, but the Centurions defeated Canyon 10-5.

Foothill League boy’s volleyball has officially come to an end, with the Vikings of Valencia closing out an undefeated league season with a sweep of Golden Valley yesterday.  The other two playoff bound teams, Hart and West Ranch, both used five games to defeat Canyon and Saugus.

Hart High School dominated the Foothill League swim finals, capturing both the boy’s and girl’s Foothill League Championships.  Indian Olympic hopeful Jordan Danny was in peak form, beating her old league record by three seconds in the 100m breaststroke.

Canyon High freshman Jason Ferlianto upset top seed Jordan Hovis from West Ranch in the Foothill League boy’s tennis finals.  Ferlianto defeated Hovis in three sets (6-4, 6-3, 7-6).  The Valencia duo of Tyler Gottshall and Jack Zapala were crowned doubles champions.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are breaking out the brooms for the second straight series.  The Dodgers completed a three-game sweep of Florida with a 5-3 victory yesterday.  Next up for Los Angeles is a three-game series with Colorado, starting tonight at 5:30pm, live on KHTS.
